Bank of Lithuania restricts Lux International Payment System
The Bank of Lithuania has barred Lux International Payment System from serving customers during an investigation into suspected AML, CTF and legal breaches.

The FMA Austria notice reports a temporary restriction imposed by the Bank of Lithuania on UAB Lux International Payment System.
The Lithuanian competent authority has required the e-money institution to stop providing financial services to new and existing customers while it conducts an investigation. The restriction runs until the investigation concludes, subject to a latest stated end date of 31 January 2027.
The notice links the measure to suspected breaches of AML and CTF rules and other legal requirements. It does not say that the institution’s e-money licence has been suspended. The FMA publication reports the Lithuanian supervisory action and its disclosed scope; it does not impose a separate Austrian prohibition.
For Lux International Payment System, the immediate operational effect covers both onboarding and servicing. New customers cannot receive the firm’s financial services during the restriction, while existing customers fall within the same bar. The notice does not specify which services are affected, how customer funds should be handled or whether the Bank of Lithuania has imposed additional reporting requirements.
The measure ends when the investigation concludes, subject to the 31 January 2027 outer date. The notice does not describe a licence withdrawal, insolvency proceeding or finding of completed misconduct.
The FMA said the publication relies on §26(9) E-GeldG. Further information is available from the Bank of Lithuania, which is conducting the investigation and imposing the restriction.
Payment institutions and counterparties reviewing the notice should distinguish between the two supervisory roles: FMA Austria is reporting the measure, while the Bank of Lithuania controls its application and any subsequent decision. The FMA publication does not set out a separate Austrian review timetable or an additional effective date.
The restriction remains in place pending the investigation’s conclusion or a further Bank of Lithuania decision, and in any event no later than 31 January 2027.
