Slovakia gives gambling operators until 30 November to complete goAML registration
The legal duty is to obtain approval, not merely submit an application, and non-compliance is an administrative offence.
Slovakia’s Office for the Regulation of Gambling (ÚRHH) has reminded gambling operators that those already operating before 1 June 2026 must complete registration in the Police Force’s goAML information system by 30 November 2026. The ÚRHH issued the reminder on 2 November, citing the amendment to the anti-money laundering (AML) Act made by Act No. 73/2026 Coll.
The change took effect on 1 June and makes goAML registration a separate statutory obligation under section 21(2) of the AML Act. Before then, registration was linked mainly to submitting a report on an unusual transaction. Failure to register is an administrative offence.
Who must register
Every gambling operator is an obliged entity under section 5(1)(d) of the AML Act, regardless of the type of gambling offered, turnover or transaction values. This includes a legal entity holding an individual licence from the ÚRHH, or one operating under a general licence after meeting the statutory conditions and filing the required notification.
Operators that became gambling businesses before 1 June must register by 30 November under section 36d(1). A legal entity becoming an operator after 1 June must register within 30 days of becoming an obliged entity.
The ÚRHH stressed that the law requires operators to “zaregistrovať sa”, meaning to register, not merely submit an application. Registration must be approved by the FSJ, and approval is not immediate. The FSJ therefore recommends submitting the application in advance.
The registration process and related information are available from the Slovak Ministry of the Interior. The goAML system is the platform used to receive and analyse reports on unusual transaction operations.
